Katie Kihorany Jansen
Founder and board member

With over 10 years of consumer marketing experience, Jansen brings a passion for helping companies achieve their vision by leveraging innovative technologies and digital media to drive strong performance. Currently, her firm focuses on providing clients with guidance and execution on marketing and branding strategies that include social media, mobile marketing, demand generation, acquisition and engagement, and all aspects of digital marketing. Igniting Solutions’ current clients are finance companies, interactive media groups, professional service groups, video gaming, and media agencies.


Prior to Igniting Solutions, Jansen ran marketing for PlayFirst Inc. As Vice President of marketing for this video game company, she was accountable for brand vision, strategy and positioning across multiple digital platforms that included mobile, social and web. Before PlayFirst, she ran the digital marketing team at Navigenics (a Kleiner Perkins and Sequoia backed startup). Her efforts helped revolutionized genetics testing by marketing this exciting product through digital marketing, partnerships and print campaigns. Prior to Navigenics she helped lead online marketing at the Cord Blood Registry, the largest and most respected umbilical stem cell storage company in the US.
Jansen holds a MA from San Francisco State in corporate communications and a BA in psychology from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

Myles Brundage

Myles has more than 14 years experience in eCommerce product management and marketing in the video game, entertainment and retail industries. Myles' strong technical and creative skills allow him to work effectively and collaboratively with creative, marketing, and engineering teams to deliver on time and successful results. He possesses the ability to plan and think strategically and then project manage the details for a successful outcome.


Myles started his career in the home division for Liberty House then moved to the ready-to-wear division for Macy’s West & Macys.com. He transitioned to a bay area ATG Dynamo development firm, an enterprise eCommerce web platform in 2000. His work with eCommerce sites with large product catalogs (exceeding 40k SKUS) helped him develop dynamic personalization features, persona driven collaborative filtering, and dynamic customer segmentation to increase order size, reactivate customers and new customer conversion. In early 2008 Myles transitioned to a mobile and social video game company and used his eCommerce experience to drive conversion for digital and virtual goods using game and social mechanics.
Myles graduated in computer science as a system analyst from University of Phoenix. He is a certified agile scrum master and a certified agile product owner.

Emily Felling Thurman

Emily is a B2B marketing professional with 10+ years of technology marketing experience across a broad range of marketing functions including demand generation, marketing operations & analytics, marketing communications and product marketing.


Most recently, Emily served as Director of Marketing for Idera, a high-growth B2B software company in the application monitoring space. At Idera, Emily led a team of eight direct reports and managed a seven-figure marketing budget to drive demand for Idera’s products. Emily made significant contributions to Idera’s growth, including the most successful product launch campaign in company history, which drove a 60% increase in new customer revenue over the previous quarter. Emily also led SEO efforts that doubled organic search traffic year over year and developed programs to position Idera as a leader in the SharePoint management solutions space. Prior to Idera, Emily worked for Dell as brand manager for the Latitude line of notebooks, driving demand for the SMB business unit. In that role, Emily planned and executed the SMB promotional strategy for Latitude, which resulted in 38% year over year growth in a mature business line. Emily was also recognized with a marketing MVP award for her success in managing a complete product line refresh.
Emily brings a great deal of analytical discipline in her approach to marketing to ensure that marketing budgets are optimized to drive demand. She gets excited about applying new technologies and processes to improve marketing measurement and streamline program execution. Emily focuses on helping B2B clients optimize demand generation efforts and streamline marketing operations.
Emily has an MBA from Stanford University, and an engineering degree from Rice University.

Sarah Bolton

Sarah is a strategic marketing professional with 15+ years of experience across a broad range of industries, including digital media, technology, entertainment, and video games. With an experience in both B2B and D2C marketing, Sarah’s expertise includes brand strategy and messaging development, marketing communications, advertising, website development, sales enablement tools, industry visibility initiatives, and events. She is especially adept collaborating with creative professionals and managing large-scale projects working with multiple cross-functional contributors and teams.


Most recently, Sarah served as Senior Director of Marketing for CBS Interactive, a global top 10 media company, directing all marketing activities for high-profile portfolio brands including CNET.com and GameSpot. During her tenure at CBSi, Sarah led a team of 6 direct reports and managed a seven-figure marketing budget to drive awareness and usage among multiple audiences, including advertisers, consumers, and press. Sarah was responsible for all sales enablement and industry visibility initiatives, and was an invaluable member of the strategic management team responsible for revenue. Prior to CBSi, Sarah worked for Opts Ideas, an experiential marketing agency, as the lead engagement manager on the Microsoft MSN business. She also held posts at Dwell Magazine supporting advertising sales, and with Launch Pad, a renowned Silicon Valley marketing consultancy specializing in marketing for startups.
Sarah brings a winning combination of strategy and creativity to all her clients and projects, delivering breakthrough programs that move their target audiences and meet business objectives. Sarah focuses on helping B2B clients establish brand and product positioning, develop high-impact messaging, and execute killer digital and communications strategies.

Alexandra C. Wong

Alexandra is a marketing professional with 15+ years of experience in project management, website and collateral development and event management. Alexandra’s strong project plan development and keen eye for detail allow her to effectively manage cross-functional teams leading to on time and successful project delivery.


Most recently, Alexandra served as associate director of alumni relations for Mills College, a top liberal arts college, directing all alumni events locally and internationally. During her tenure at Mills College Alexandra was project manager for a team of 4 and managed over 90 events per year. Alexandra managed events, collateral development and delivery along with event logistics.
Prior to Mills College, Alexandra worked for the San Diego World Trade Center, a non-profit organization, as the director of marketing, communications and programs.  During her time there, Alexandra led marketing and communications strategy including design of all collateral materials. She also held posts at The Willows Community School, managing alumni development, collateral design and events, and with Hudson O’Neil Consulting, a boutique consulting company in the footwear industry, directing client projects.
Alexandra’s diverse background and extensive experience in marketing and project management, event strategy and implementation allow her to deliver high impact results tailored to a client’s needs. Currently, Alexandra is a consultant with Igniting Solutions.

Stephanie Peterson

Stephanie is a marketing and public relations executive with over 20 years of experience in media, entertainment, and youth focused brands. She has driven strategy, product marketing and communications for YouTube, Xbox and Getty Images and has advised companies such as Adobe, SAP, Coupons.com, American Girl and Rosetta Stone.


In the year since she’s started her consulting practice, Stephanie has advised Adobe and American Girl on mobile application development strategy including in-depth competitive analysis, positioning, and feature prioritization. She also led an extensive brand strategy and segmentation engagement with Coupons.com where she spearheaded a campaign targeting Moms via “mommy bloggers”. Before starting her consulting practice, she was the Head of Brand Strategy at YouTube. In that role she drove the evolution of the YouTube brand including positioning, messaging, brand voice and architecture. She also led editorial programming, content curation and social media which drove a significant portion of YouTube’s 2 billion daily streams, over 46M “likes” on Facebook and over 7M Twitter followers. Prior to Google, Stephanie was the Director of Marketing at LeapFrog, where she helped the brand reach Moms and kids with a line of educational devices and games. Stephanie drove product marketing and long-term planning for Xbox 360 which included repositioning the Xbox brand as a family-friendly entertainment platform. She led the launch of Xbox 360 globally in over 22 markets and launched over 18 Xbox and PC games globally. Earlier in her career, Stephanie built Getty Images’ business in Asia and Latin America from the ground up with revenues from these regions growing to 30% of total revenue for the company.
Stephanie is currently consulting with a focus on brand strategy, audience development, communications strategy and social media for mobile apps and games. With two toddlers of her own, she has a personal passion for all things kid-related.

Matt Avalos

Matt is an experienced graphic designer with over 13 years of professional experience. Matt’s versatile experience includes businesses both large and small. He specializes in both online and offline design work, he excels at creative challenges and delivers high quality work with a fast turn around. For the last 13 years he has worked for several web and multimedia companies, where he designed, produced and managed projects; including logos, brochures, emails, display ads, social media sites, and websites.


Matt began his career at Miadora.com in 2001. There he grew to lead creative designer and quickly built a solid foundation in web and print design. Prior to Miadora.com he was Lead Designer for Private Media / Gamelink USA, where he helped foster their brand initiatives and identity through logo design, brand concept and visual aesthetics. Through his work Matt has learned to understand that each project is unique, and through research and solid communication, he strives to meet each client’s needs. In early 2010 Matt transitioned his career to freelance design at sk70-design, so that he could focus on helping a wide-variety of early-stage companies and work within their fast paced environments.

Colin Felton

Colin is a multi-skilled graphic designer and web developer with over 15 years of experience. He has been working with major media, entertainment, and technology companies since the earliest days of the web, and is also right at home with print and typography design.


Colin started his career with American Interactive Media in New York City, where he worked on groundbreaking streaming video websites in an era before broadband. He then spent several years as a contract and freelance designer, primarily with clients in the non-profit and educational world. In 2003 he co-founded the music site Bandega, while continuing to provide web design and development to a variety of clients. Prior to Igniting Solutions, Colin was most recently the Design Manager at PlayFirst, Inc., where he led a team of designers and artists in creating all of the company's marketing, as well as handling creative services needs. He was instrumental in creating UI/UX guidelines for mobile promotions and advertising, and was personally responsible for creating the look and feel of the company's in-app cross promotional system.
Colin graduated with highest honors from the University of California at Berkeley.

Drew Pearce

Drew is a Copywriter, Content Provider and Creative Strategist with over 20 years of experience serving clients In the telecommunications, technology, media, retail, and entertainment industries.


Through his work for Ryan Partnership (formerly Haggin Marketing), he's helped create successful print, direct mail and digital marketing campaigns for AT&T, American Express, eBay, The Home Depot, and many others. Recently, he worked with Firefly Creative Company on Sonoma County Tourism Bureau's award-winning "Do You Speak Sonoma?" campaign.
As a contributing writer for Acoustic Guitar magazine, Drew has written feature stories, interviews, and record reviews of singer/songwriters including Aimee Mann, Jack Johnson, Indigo Girls and more. One assignment inspired him to create an innovative music marketing enterprise known as Bay Area House Concerts, which produced and hosted music events in a variety of alternative venues and wine tasting rooms all over the San Francisco Bay Area.

Taylor Louis

Taylor is a dynamic marketing and branding guru with 10 years experience working with emerging companies in tech, consumer internet and lifestyle. Taylor's expertise includes market research, brand positioning and development, SEO, e-mail marketing, and analytics.


Taylor began his career at the Netherlands Consulate General conducting market research and facilitating strategic business relationships between emerging tech companies in Holland and Silicon Valley. His savvy communication and ability to identify opportunities landed him a lead generation position at TRUSTe, where he managed a B2B marketing campaign which generated revenue opportunities exceeding $1.2M. Taylor also led a year long in-house SEO initiative for The Great Place to Work Institute, having helped them increase organic traffic by 20%. Most recently, Taylor was part of the Client Services team at Moving Brands, a global brand and design agency, managing brand and digital projects for client such as Microsoft, Menlo Ventures and Life360.

Stephanie Kanoeola Megumi Wong

Stephanie is a talented art director/designer with 8+ years experience in the digital media and lifestyle space. She brings an obsession for detail, quality, and innovation to each project with an underlying philosophy that great design happens when strategy and storytelling collide.


Having worked in both product and marketing sides of large established companies, like Gamespot.com, Chow.com, and CBS.com, to smaller startups like Disqus, TRX, and her own co-founded space EatLifeWhole.com, she gets how and why clear brand messaging and design delivers a key variable for growth: happy, engaged users. Steph focuses her time in brand and identity design, creating powerful presentations, web design, print and marketing collateral, and the future of interactive eBooks.

Phill Mamula

Phill is a 9 year experienced Web Designer & Developer. His talents focus on designing with a marketing mind, creating a solution to clients' demands and bringing them into the latest trends and platforms in the ever growing internet age.


With an excited attitude towards web design, user experience and interaction, Phill has made it a point to bring the experience you get on viewing web design on your browser, to your tablets and phones. Embracing platforms like WordPress, Shopify, Tumblr and other CMS (Content Management Systems), Phill has been able to tailor these platforms to fit any clients needs and desires. Taking every project as a chance to outdo himself previously, Phill has become a valued asset to the Igniting Solutions team.

Courtney Patubo Kranzke

Courtney is a multi-discipline creative professional with over 15 years of experience in graphic design, photography, and video. Her passion for technology led her to pursue work in software, games, and entertainment. She has a strong background in traditional graphic design, which she applies to every aspect of her work in the creative field: print, web, or mobile.


Courtney studied Film and TV at the Academy of Art College while maintaining work as a freelance graphic designer, working on short films by day and marketing collateral by night. She began her career at Pixar Animation Studios, assisting the production and editorial teams. She then worked at Brøderbund Software and Sony Computer Entertainment America, solidifying her passion for technology companies. She then became a founding member of Switchblade Creative Studios, a San Francisco-based design and marketing firm. Most recently, she was a UI/UX designer at PlayFirst Inc., contributing to interface designs for multiple games.
Courtney is excited to see the fields of creativity and technology converge in this day and age, and applying her own creativity and tech savvy to each of her projects with Igniting Solutions.
